Situation

Our Client, a worldwide leader in insurance, ambitioned to promote intrapreneurship within their Asia subsidiaries by prototyping and showcasing three innovative ideas chosen by its employees. Open Web Technology was approached to lead the rapid implementation of these mobile application initiatives in three pilot markets in Asia (Hong-Kong, Thailand, and India) and ensure their reusability in other subsidiaries.

Approach

Open Web Technology applied its three-step methodology:

  • Scope and Design the Initiatives: We refined and detailed each of the three initiatives in collaboration with teams on-site during workshops and according to local markets specificities. We defined and prioritized the requested functionality with the help of user journeys and clickable wireframes. Once validated, we put together a visual prototype of each initiative to provide stakeholders with the designed user experience and look & feel of the application, before investing in a single line of code.
  • Define their Technical Architecture: Based on our long-standing experience in building digital services, we defined the technical architecture and resources needed to support each initiative. With our help, the Client was able to select the right technology stack, and identify the competencies and resources (both internal and external) necessary for the initiatives development.
  • Actionable Roadmap and Governance: Finally, we defined the implementation roadmap and budget by packaging the initiatives into short-term feasible projects (delivery every three months). We developed a best-practice governance model to gain in agility and identified clear immediate next steps to efficiently start the development.

In less than three months, we successfully delivered prototypes of all three initiatives, which were showcased to our Client's top management, both in Asia and at a Global level. Based on our recommendation and work, the Client was able to take the informed decision of going ahead with the development and large-scale rollout of these initiatives starting 2015.
